Advantages of the FARMA & CIA model

In the conventional extrapolation model the weighting given to each hospital is based on the number of beds. However, this system gives rise to errors because hospitals are treating an increasing number of patients as out-patients, even where significant surgery is involved. The Farma&Cia model requires added complexity but as a result offers a better guarantee of reliability.

Calculation

The statistical information is projected to a national or regional scale by using the four main variables of a hospital's care activity cross referenced with the indication field for each molecule, thereby increasing the representative relevance of the sample.
